Project Description

The Behavioral Health Program is a specialized clinic providing culturally and linguistically responsive English and Spanish outpatient mental health and substance use services to underserved and uninsured populations. Our goal is to support a thriving community in which all members have the opportunities and support to achieve self-sufficiency and lead a healthy quality of life. Our program is committed to providing services to all regardless of ability to pay.

Behavioral Health staff recognize the broader social and political factors that underlie issues experienced by communities of color and operate from an integrative theoretical framework, allowing for flexibility of clinical approaches depending on client need and receptivity. Our integrative framework includes theoretical orientations such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist, Anti-oppression, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Motivational Interviewing, Person-centered, Family Systems, Psychodynamic and Trauma-Informed Care.

Individual, Couple, Family and Group Therapy

Services are available for adolescents ages 11-18, adults, seniors, couples, families and veterans. Our program serves individuals who are uninsured, have Medicaid, Medicare, or CHP+, Victim’s Compensation recipients or self-pay. Our clinicians have experience providing treatment for Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, Trauma and Stressor-Related Disorders and Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders. During the initial session, the therapist will conduct a formal assessment and begin developing a treatment plan with the collaboration of each client. Length of treatment is based on the therapeutic needs of each individual.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a form of structured psychotherapy that assists in the processing of trauma and other adverse life experiences. EMDR encourages the individual to focus on the trauma memory while experiencing bilateral stimulation in order to reduce the emotion associated with the trauma and develop an adaptive resolution. Research supports the effectiveness of EMDR with a diagnosis of PTSD, Anxiety and Substance Use Disorders among others.

Case Management Services

Case Management is the provision of a range of services to support coordination of care, monitor overall service delivery and advocate for other services essential to meeting basic human services. Case managers will support clients through individual needs while engaging in behavioral health treatment.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment and Prevention

Level I Outpatient treatment services are offered for individuals experiencing substance use issues. SUD services include bilingual individual and group counseling. Relapse Prevention groups, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Moral Reconation Therapy groups have been established to support individuals through their treatment. Additionally, substance use counselors facilitate prevention groups at high schools in the Denver metropolitan area.

Level I & II DUI Education and Therapy

Level I & II Education and Therapy services are offered to individuals who have been charged with a DWAI/DUI and are in need of treatment services. Our program uses The Change Companies’ curricula to meet with OBH state requirements and provide effective treatment to our clients. We offer services for Track A, B, C, & D. Groups are offered in the evening and facilitated in English and Spanish.
