Carotte EspinoZa, a Denver native, is a celebrated Chicana painter, muralist, and activist. Exhibiting an aptitude for painting at an early age, Ms. EspinoZa refined her techniques at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and the University of Colorado, Boulder. Ms. EspinoZa was a pioneer muralist throughout El Movimiento, Denver’s Mexican American civil rights movement of the 1960s.

Her work adornedactivist Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales' Crusade for Justice center and later his Escuela Tlatelolco. In addition to her murals, Ms. EspinoZa has created numerous public works, sculptures, stained glass designs, and museum installations and restorations. Some venues displaying her work include a stained-glass window at the Colorado State Capitol, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Holy Family Mission Catholic Church, the Latino Cultural Arts Center, and two sculptures at the main branch of the Denver Public Library.

She has painted over 30 murals across the United States, and her screenprint, “We the People, Broken Treaties” is held in the Smithsonian American Art Museum
